I believe that the way matters were handled by the government was a
disgrace. My family had to sleep outside of the Convention Center for for days. I
feel that if the people wrer told a week in advance, or three days before the
Hurrican had hit the city of New Orleans then a lot of people will still be a live.
People should not be treated as criminals when a tradgy takes place. I can't speak
for everyone but I can speak on behalf of my entire family and that is to say that
we did not have money to evecute the city in time. The way the arm forces made use of
their weapons at the Convention center was very wrong. Nobody out there had
committed a crime but they seemed to think so. My 5 year old daughter had a rifle
pointed to her face, my sister went into a seizer and they refused her help. Their
were so many old people there dying because of no food and water. We saw the trucks
pull up with food and water, but no one was allowed to receive any. People did not
just lose thier homes, they also lost their lives and some of their diginty. New
Orleans is a place that means much more to people than home. This place is our life
and there is no where else we would rather be than there.

I'm a college student who has been assigned a research project and I chose
Hurricane Katrina and homeowners insurance as my topic. As a part of my assignment,
I have to conduct a survey. It's only 10 questions and I would love to receive some
responses from those actually in the hurricane-affected area. This topic is
important to me as I live in Tornado Alley near Springfield, IL and I've seen up
close the damage that natural disasters can cause and the resulting response of
insurers. I would really like to get this survey "out there". I'd be immensely
greatful if you could provide assistance with this. I hope that somehow this can go
beyond just a homework assignment. The link to my survey is:

Thank you for your time.
