Why didn't they utilize all the school buses to evacuate the people. Those buses are trash now. They could have probably evacuated everyone. I hope the mayor or governor in the future will mandate it. It wouldn't matter who drove the bus as long as it were done. In an emergency, rules and laws have to be broken.

I used to live in New Orleans before I moved back home to Chicago. I loved that city; the people were so kind and wonderful. Now, it saddens me to see what has become of that beautiful city. It saddens me that my husband, who is a fireman, volunteered to help. Don't get me wrong, I am proud of him, but, but he too was tricked by FEMA. He said it was the mosgt frustrating event of his life -- all these firemen trying to help, and FEMA taking their time, wining and dining them, spending money foolishly, and not taking care of the people of New Orleans and the Gulf coast area. The stories he could tell about FEMA. He is still having nightmares about it; I can only imagine what the victims are going through. God bless all of you down south; and God help this country. Our leadership is sorely lacking, and I fear for us all. We need to start taking care of the folks in the USA ....

New Orlens may have been one of the best places in the world. Now people are putting it down no one can say that they never wanted to visit new orleans because its a very surpising city. hurricane katrina may have did her damage but hearts and souls of those who really love new orleans still lives, new orleans will forever be apart of us.the lord gave us a wake up callme most of us answered but for those who didnt get the message its time for us to start a new life. if this would have not happen most would have never got a second chance to live better,In my eyes thats all hurricane katrina was is a big wake up call.God bless new orleans and ever body that the hurricane affected. New orleans will be back soon dont lose faith. God gave us a second chance take advantage off it.

im 14 and i also went through Katrina, but instead of being in New Orealns i was in Mississippi where it really got hit sure New Orealns was bad but if you really look at it new orealns got flooded a giant soup bowl just like they said it would become why is all the foucas on new orealns what about mississippi we are still here and strugling just like new orealns only sorry to say but worse we lost our homes, business, family, everything sure new orealns had diffculits also the main thing new orealns did was flood sure they got damage but cant mississippi get a little attention. Oh and the mayor is a very racial man how can he say New Orealns become a choclate city i grew up there im not black so because im not black i cant go to the place i was born and raised almost all my life. i think its fairly stupid of him to make a statment like he did and i take much offence to his racial remark. Please dont take my leetter the wrong way. We all suffered but we were forgotten(mississippi).
