I have lived in Gulfport, MS for most of my life. Me and my family have been displaced by Katrina and we are now in Raleigh, NC. Many people from MS lost their homes, also. I lost my home, car, friends, and family. It's hard trying to start over in a new city surrounded by new faces. A lot of people think that we've gotten assistance and we are now stable or can live with some kind of normalcy; when in fact I haven't gotten any assistance from Fema since April. Sometimes I feel like it might have been better if I would have stayed at home, because most people feel like we are looking for a hand-out. I have been working now for about 9 mths. And it's hard trying to get to where I was a year ago.

I am a New Orleans native and I cannot believe how racists and evil some people are. I am 20. I have learned that everyone is equal in Gods eyes, so are you people with these horrible, negative thoughts about blacks believers? Obviously not. I am very thoughtful of every race and ethnicity, not just my own. I also want to let you know if the tables had turned on you I wouldn't hesitate to keep you in prayer, no matter what. My best wishes and blessings go out everyone who suffered or lost someone. And special blessings to the uncaring and heartless. I lived in N.O during the hurricane in the 9th ward across the canal. My heart definately goes out to that area. And for everyone trust God. He will never forsake you.

Denny you must be very stupid or you arent paying attention. Yes citizens did help out with the situation in New Orleans however the main purpose of any democratic structured government is to protect and serve its people and here is where govenor bush (as i like to call him thats last election he won) failed miserably. His buddies at FEMA have now cut off aid with is a joke after it took them a week to respond ?! I thought this was America but i see its not for everbody. I understand that sure you live in America if yon are in good economic standing. thats whats gets overlooked here the poverty that thses ppl lived in. With that said if citizens hadnt helped can you imagine what the scene would have been ? Living here in NY and going through September 11th that was an extrordinary expierence and very unfortunate. However we recieved federal and state funding immediately and are still recieving this aid. On the local response at least from the outside looking in was awful. Major Nagon had no idea what to do even after being warned about the pending disastor ? Ray come on ! Ray dont refuse amtrack trains nad other asiistance offered i understand that New Orleans dosent hace the budget that we in Ny have but that means you need to use all resorces avaliable. However i dont qiute understand how this guy can be re-elected maybe someone form NO can tell me. To the govenor u failed your pp how can u allow the major of jefferson parrish to have troops lined up to turn Katrina evacuees away ? thats some real bulshit. With this huge props to Spike lee with the documentary thats was excellent nad part 2 should be as good tonight on hbo. To the people of the NO i am deeply sadded by your expierenece. You have shown great perserverance to survive. When you do get everything under contol which i pray u will. You must register to vote its the only way to create change on the political level I sincerely urge you to do this.

I really don't think that our so called presidnt did all or doing all that he can do for hurrican katrina victims and he is not doing anything at all in my eye for the black people. The only thing that bush is doing is making war and ending the world. s.o.s
