here is my comment on the katrina problem i can't understand the goverment. these people need home and business back. i am willing to do something about it i have a trucking company in oregon. i think i can help rebuild but i don't know how to start. i know i can do better than the goverment red tape. i am willing to give it all up and go down there and start building homes for people but i don't know how to get started. if anyone can help me please let me know. i use to build home in calif. years ago i think i could get a small crew of workers and get something done down there i have some good ideals on how to get things going and cut threw the red tape please email @steinerflatbeds@aol.com.

Fisrt of all I am still looking for my Goddaughter, Raven Hampton. Her mothers name is Aishia Hampton. They may be with their aunt Idella Anderson. I have been searching for her and her family since the hurricane with no luck. If anyone knows of their whereabouts please leave your contact info. at trfoster76@yahoo.com.
Hurricane Katrinas rath was more than enough for everyone to deal with. The days following this horrific storm brought on a grim reality, that we were all alone. We did not have the support of our government, our families, nor our fellow Americans. Over the months to follow, we learned of deaths of close friends, family members, and even people that we had seen on a daily basis. Our homes were destroyed, we had no money, and at times no hope. There were alot of people that were helpful in other states, but there were more than enough that were down right nasty. FEMA brought us through hell to receive any type of assistance and I myself have three children, so relocating to another state with them was hard. My home was deemed unliveable because I had no roof nor walls. My home and personal property were destroyed. Do you know these fools sent me 3,000.00 to relocate 12 hours away with three children. God help us all because I can't believe our government has failed us in this way.

It has now been nearly a year since Katrina - how ashamed I am of this country that we can't help our own people. I am a white woman up here in Chicago - but, black, white, pink, or green - when is this country, i.e. - politicians - when are they going to realize that the people (legal) in this country need help. I am so sick of this - I have to say, it is getting downright scary. Look at who may run for President in '08 - there is really no one!!! These politicans are all out for themselves, and it is the working class that loses. Again, my hearts and prayers for y'all in NO - I lived there in the early 80's and consider it my second home. The people were kind and generous and made this homesick "yankee girl" feel ever so welcome. I would go back there every year to visit. God bless you all.

I have a lot of empathy for the residents, I also have a lot of disgust for the City of New Orleans, as at no time was the City's Emergency Manager mentioned. Was or is there even one? If so, where was he/she? Was there an Emergency Plan? Why did the State of LA not ask for Federal Help, rather than to wait for it?

I think we all should be grateful that all some of us lost, was our homes and things...Think about the people who lost so much more than that here....I live on the south end of Slidell, My issuse is that all you hear about is homeowners plans to help them..Like me I am divorced was renting and lost all that I have too..Put no one is saying nothing about helping people like me...We have no help to look for or a place we can not afford to rent now.So were does that leave me and others like me now...The north of Slidell is doing well and we still have to come home everyday looking at what is left here since Katrina some house still not guted ,almost a year ago soon...As many others have said about New Orleans people are getting sick,I do know that feeling also I have been sick a lot since all this happened here to...But we all need to remember this we can rebuild our lives and homes...When ever we get enogh money from what ever source we can,the goverment will help some but, not all of us.we need to Thank God for what we all have it COULD HAVE BEEN WORST... Lets Thank God for what we do have left...God Bless Us All now and Forever..We still have God.......
